Promote professional and ethical standards

Ethical standards

NGO Awards

Each year the Resource Alliance organises a programme of NGO Awards to celebrate and promote good practice in fundraising. Awards have already taken place in Asia Pacific, India and East Africa and we plan to strengthen and expand this programme over the next few years in further regions. Click here

Fundraising Associations

We support and work with associations of fundraisers around the world, and have helped a number of them come into being, e.g. in Kenya, Philippines, Malaysia, Finland and Poland.

Resource Alliance helped to found the European Fundraising Association and continues to provide material support by hosting its annual meeting in Holland each October.

International Statement of Ethical Principles

Resource Alliance participated in four annual ‘International Fundraising Summits’ of fundraising associations – hosting two of them. These gatherings resulted in the adoption of a universal code of ethical principles which we help promote through our educational activities.

After four years of negotiation, the code includes an International Statement of Ethical Principles and also contains six standards of practice related to issues such as stewardship, communications, finance and fundraising costs and legal compliance. The code aims to foster the growth of a worldwide fundraising community dedicated to accountability, transparency and effectiveness. A copy of code can be downloaded here:
