Pareto Fundraising to sponsor bursaries to IFC

Australian-based Pareto Fundraising is supporting nine additional bursary places to the IWRM in Malaysia.

Pareto is the lead sponsor of the 8th IWRM taking place from 22 to 25 May in Kuala Lumpur. The bursary places will include attendance fees as well as £300 towards the cost of travel for each bursary winner. Applicants for these bursaries should follow the eligibility criteria and application procedure as described in the link. International Fundraising Festival to take place in Prague

The International Fundraising Festival is taking place in Prague in the Czech Republic from 26-28 March. Run by the Czech Fundraising Center and the Resource Alliance with partner organisations from Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Moldova and Germany the festival will focus on the theme ‘What makes you rich?’.

It differs from a traditional conference by taken an open space format and including complementary interactive features, offering all participants as much room and opportunity as possible to share experiences and information. The programme will partly be driven by participants’ needs.

Just 100 places are available for this Festival and the fee is 123 Euros (excluding accommodation).

NGO Awards launch in Malaysia

The NGO Awards for Malaysia are being launched on 19 February at the Eastin Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The ceremony will be attended by NGOs and the media.

The objective of the awards is to set and promote good standards and practices in resource mobilisation, accountability and strengthening successful resource mobilisation practices; create examples and inspiration for other non-profits and promote cross-regional learning; raise the visibility of local resource mobilisation initiatives and provide increased support for the sector and finally to promote the overall credibility of the non-profit sector for long-term sustainability.

All non-governmental and non-profit organisations except those primarily involved in political activities or promoting religious doctrine are eligible to enter. Entrants will be evaluated on:

  • The delivery of quality services to its beneficiaries
  • The demonstration of efficient management of resources, transparency and accountability
  • The effective mobilisation of resources (financial and non-financial) from the local community, and
  • Exhibiting capability for financial management

The awards will be presented at a ceremony in Kualar Lumpur in May 2008.

The launch will be followed by a two-day seminar on 1 and 2 March on Resource Mobilisation and Communication for about 80 NGOs from around the country which will be held at the Crown Princess Hotel in KL.
