Certificate Course in Resource Mobilisation and Communication
A 15-day Certificate Course scheduled for July 2008
With non-profit organisations in India facing growing challenges in raising resources, there is now no greater need to pursue diversified funding sources and to be able to capitalise on locally available avenues of income.
The over-reliance on international funding, and the traditional culture of philanthropy towards religious institutions, disaster relief and through personal networks means that relatively few non-profits are able to venture into the field of local fundraising and it is difficult to develop the capacity of civil society organisations to engage their local publics, diversify and sustain their sources of funding.
The IBS, Hyderabad and the Resource Alliance believe in the need to continually invest in the development of each individual within a non-profit organisation to help create competently managed development organisations that will form the backbone of a sustainable civil society.
To this end, the certificate course in resource mobilisation and communication will allow those in the sector to be able to mobilise a diverse range of financial and non-financial resources for their organisations. They will be able to identify a range of potential such sources appropriate to their context and devise an effective resource mobilisation strategy for the organisation that is consistent with the values of the community and sector of which they are a part.
The course will cover six key modules in resource mobilisation and communication:
- Fundamentals Of Resource Mobilisation
- Environmental Context
- Strategy Development
- Program Development
- Organisational Planning & Budgets
- Monitoring & Evaluation
The course shall be conducted through class-room teaching, presentations, group work, and case studies by leading trainers in resource mobilisation and experts in the field.
The course will be run in three sections of five days - 14 - 18th July, 4 - 8th Aug and 25 - 29th Aug, with a break of two weeks to facilitate participants adapt learnings to their respective organisations.
The total fee for the course is Rs 15,000/- and is inclusive of registration training, materials, and assessment. Candidates are expected to be regular in terms of attendance and course work assigned from time to time.
