Workshop on Resource Mobilisation & Management for NGO Leaders.

Mumbai CEO Workshop

3rd - 4th March 2008, Mumbai, India

This 2 day workshop on Resource Mobilisation & Management for CEOs and other leaders in the NGO sector was organised by SP Jain Institute of Management & Research in association with the Resource Alliance and supported by Ford Foundation.

The workshop was organised in response to the need  of non-profit NGO leaders to enhance their knowledge and capacity in the domain of  fundraising and have a functional  understanding of issues such as strategic management, measuring impact, governance, financial etc, allowing these leaders to provide direction and inputs to staff members and to achieve organisational goals. Such a workshop targeted at heads of NGOs was the first of its kind in India and received overwhelming response from the participants.

The workshop covered a series of key topics, including the following:

  • Role of Fund Raising
  • Strategic Management of non-profits (Alignment of mission, vision and resources to build a thriving organisation)
  • NGO Board & Governance
  • Accountability & Transparency
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Financial Management
  • Monitoring & Evaluation

The sessions were designed to be participatory and ensure the maximum participation of the individuals through group work and simulation games. The trainers, with their innovative approach generated lot of interaction and discussion during the sessions and the exercises clarified the concepts and fundamentals. Case-studies further highlighted the process and systems needed for efficient performance.

Around 23 participants from 24 different organizations across the country attended the training program. The participants came from a wide range of  non government organizations such as  Action Aid, Dignity Foundation, Family Planning Association of India, Sense (India),Sama Foundation and others.
