AI FUNDAMENTALS

Using AI with intention to do more of what matters

This practical and accessible masterclass for nonprofit professionals will support and build your artificial intelligence collaboration skills.

Nonprofit teams are stretched thin. You’re managing programmes, writing grants, engaging donors, and reporting on impact, often with fewer people and resources than the work demands. AI tools can help, but only if you know how to use them well.

But using them well doesn’t mean becoming a tech expert overnight; it means learning to collaborate with AI tools in a way that reflects your judgment, protects your stakeholders, and stays grounded in your mission – and helping people around you to do the same.

Delivered by Anthropic in partnership with GivingTuesday, this masterclass will help you build practical AI fluency through the 4D Framework: Delegation, Description, Discernment, and Diligence. You’ll work through real nonprofit scenarios, from research and writing to data analysis and workflow design, and learn how to apply AI to the tasks you’re already doing.

Whether you’re a programme manager, fundraiser, communications lead, or executive director, this course will give you a clear, values-centered framework for integrating AI into your work and your organisation.

You’ll explore:

  1. The 4D Framework: Understand the four core capabilities for effective AI collaboration and learn how to decide what to delegate to AI and what to keep in human hands.
  2. Researching & writing with AI: Find out how to use AI as a research collaborator for landscape scans, literature reviews, and stakeholder analysis; learn how you can write with AI in ways that preserve your organisation’s voice and credibility; and get techniques for drafting, revising, and strengthening communications, reports, and proposals.
  3. Data, privacy, & responsible use: You’ll understand what happens to your data when you use AI tools, find out how to protect constituent and donor information, and get practical guidelines for responsible use in mission-driven contexts.
  4. Workflow design and organisational integration: Move from one-off tasks to systematic AI-augmented workflows, evaluate where AI adds genuine value versus where it introduces risk, and build shared practices your team can adopt together.
