Transforming digital acquisition into real-world organising, action, & income.
When a far-right march brought thousands onto the streets in the UK, it risked creating the impression of a groundswell of support. The team at HOPE not hate knew the marchers represented a noisy minority, and that far more people believe in a hopeful, multicultural alternative – and that those people needed a clear, practical way to express and stand up for their values.
What followed was the creation and implementation, within days, of a rapid-response digital campaign that achieved impressive – and inspiring – results:
- More than 30,000 new supporters were recruited at a cost of GBP £0.37 each
- Over GBP £31,000 was raised
- 4,000 volunteers mobilised to deliver almost one million leaflets across 578 constituencies
This session will take you behind the scenes of a campaign that was centred on hope – not hate. You’ll find out how it came together so quickly, discover the paid social and messaging tactics that drove such efficient growth, and learn how simple, hopeful actions can cut through in moments of tension.
For a global audience facing rising inequality and restrictions on civil society, this workshop offers a practical case study in how digital mobilisation can raise money and build people-powered movements in a way that is fast, affordable, and scaleable.
Join us to learn how to frame your messaging for action, find out what you need to do to prepare internally, gain the confidence to act quickly at need, and ensure your digital growth also drives income and meaningful offline action.
