Currently Chief of Strategic Financing at UNHCR, Houssam has than 20 years experience in fundraising, partnership building, and stakeholder relations management in both the nonprofit and governmental sectors. He speciliases in fundraising campaigning, stakeholders engagement, strategic planning, and donor management. Houssam developed and launched new fundraising programmes such as the Islamic philanthropy programme for UNHCR, with its flagship The Refugee Zakat Fund and worked with organisations including Greenpeace and Abu Dhabi Environment Agency. Houssam joined UNHCR in 2011, where he currently leads regional MENA private sector fundraising teams and develops key programmes, including individual giving, digital campaigning, foundations, high net worth individuals, and corporations fundraising.
