WHAT HAPPENED AFTER IFC?
The real impact starts when you leave.
Every year, fundraisers, communicators, and social impact leaders leave the International Fundraising Congress (IFC) with fresh ideas, stronger networks, and greater confidence in what to do next.
But the real measure of IFC isn’t what happens during four days in the Netherlands. It’s what happens afterwards.
Keep reading to learn how our delegates have strengthened their fundraising, secured new funding, built lasting partnerships, and returned to work with greater clarity, confidence, and impact.
Every delegate leaves with their own story.
Some return home with a new fundraising strategy. Others build partnerships that last for years, discover new ways of leading, or find the confidence to make difficult decisions. No two journeys are the same. But they all begin with one decision.
Last year at IFC:
- 81% of returning attendees reported increased income
- 83.4% put new ideas into practice within two weeks
- 82% left confident applying what they learned
- 125 countries represented
One conversation. One new strategy. One international donation.
How IFC helped one fundraising consultant unlock new opportunities for organisations across Brazil.
When Ana Flavia Godoi travelled from Brazil to IFC, she wasn’t looking for more fundraising techniques. She was looking for answers.
Working alongside nonprofit organisations across Brazil, Ana Flavia could see fundraising becoming increasingly complex. Donor expectations were changing, competition for funding was growing, and organisations needed more sustainable fundraising built on long-term relationships instead of short-term campaigns.
She had one simple question: How can we build fundraising strategies that are resilient enough for the future?
At IFC, the answers didn’t come from a particular keynote or workshop, but from conversations. Hearing fundraising leaders discuss trust-based philanthropy, donor motivation, and the future of fundraising challenged Ana Flavia’s thinking and broadened her perspective.
“I didn’t just learn new fundraising techniques. I came away with a much broader understanding of where our sector is heading and how organisations can prepare for the future.”
Back in Brazil, Ana Flavia changed the way she worked with her clients. Rather than concentrating on funding opportunities alone, she began helping organisations to better understand donor motivations, strengthen stewardship, align with international funding priorities, and build authentic, long-term relationships with their supporters.
As a result, one of her clients refined its international fundraising strategy, strengthened donor communications and adopted a more relationship-centred approach with international funders. What followed was a significant international donation.
Today, Ana Flavia says organisations she works with that once believed international fundraising was beyond their reach are actively engaging with global donors and pursuing opportunities they would never have considered before.
“IFC transformed not only my fundraising practice, but my vision of what’s possible for the social sector in Brazil.”
What Ana Flavia came back clearer on:
- Building trust-based donor relationships
- International fundraising strategy
- Long-term donor stewardship
- Positioning organisations for global funding
From local changemaker to global thinker.
How IFC helped a leader in India see her work through a global lens.
When Preeti Mishra Upadhyaya arrived at IFC, she was looking for practical ways to grow AIM Trust’s flagship initiative. Hello Daughters empowers more than 10,000 rural girls through education, health, leadership development, and the prevention of child marriage.
Preeti wanted to strengthen fundraising, build lasting partnerships, and help the programme reach even more communities. What she found was something bigger.
Listening to practitioners from around the world, she realised that while every country faces different realities, many of the challenges we are trying to solve are remarkably similar.
“I realised that local solutions can have global relevance… we can learn from one another and create stronger solutions together.”
Returning home, Preeti brought a broader international perspective to how her organisation thinks about partnerships, fundraising, and collaboration.
One thing stayed with her all this time: The relationships that begin at IFC become truly valuable when you continue the conversation after the event. This realisation has shaped how she views networking, partnership building, and leadership.
Today, Preeti approaches her work with greater confidence, a stronger global outlook, and a renewed commitment to building lasting international relationships.
“IFC is where local changemakers become global thinkers, returning home with a broader vision, meaningful relationships, and a renewed commitment to creating lasting change.”
What Preeti came back clearer on:
- Building trust-based donor relationships
- International fundraising strategy
- Long-term donor stewardship
- Positioning organisations for global funding
