Building a powerful volunteering force - practically

At IFC 2017, THINK Consulting Solutions and American Cancer Society spoke about the need to create a powerful volunteering force, based on the success of the global movement, Relay For Life. This session shone a light on the strategic need for volunteering in organisations. This session builds on that concept by outlining how to implement a volunteering strategy.

Learning outcomes

  • Bringing your volunteers close to your mission
  • How to say no
  • Building long term and sustainable relationships
  • Utilising the power of peer-to-peer across different channels

Who should attend: This session is ideal for any organisation that is moving to a supporter-led model or implementing a volunteering strategy. It is aimed particularly at practitioners – or the managers of those practitioners – and will support them to develop or hone their volunteer management skills, grow in confidence and take back examples of up-to-date practice from sector leaders.

Session style: The format will be a mix of input (via PPT and volunteers stories) and opportunity for group work.
