Creating Conditions for Growth

Inside the journey of one of the UK and Ireland’s most-recognised charities.

Significant fundraising growth can only occur under the right conditions – which can mean committing to leadership, cultural, and organisational shifts.

Fundraising growth is often approached as a fundraising team problem when, in reality, the biggest barriers may be organisation: unclear priorities, disconnected teams, a lack of trust, risk aversion, inconsistent leadership, and cultures that make innovation and collaboration difficult.

Drawing on the experience of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) team, alongside wider learning from the sector, the session will reveal how to create the internal conditions that let fundraising thrive, from leadership alignment and decision-making to emotional connection, organisational confidence, and supporter relevance.

You will explore practical examples of changes that have unlocked growth in real organisations, see where challenges emerged, and find out what you can realistically apply within the context of your own organisation, regardless of size or structure. Through discussion and guided exercises, you will reflect on the barriers and opportunities in your organisation, and you’ll leave with practical pathways to building stronger alignment between leadership, culture, strategy, and fundraising growth.
