Rebuilding Digital Donor Retention

Moving beyond telemarketing in a hybrid world.

Is your organisation losing more regular donors than it’s recruiting?

That’s the situation Folkekirkens Nødhjælp found itself in in 2023, when its fundraising model relied heavily on telemarketing and while digital recruitment delivered large volumes of leads but with poor retention.

In this workshop, you’ll hear how their fundraising team fundamentally reimagined where their donor relationship begins, shifting from treating one-off donations as a one-off to seeing them as a powerful entry point into long-term commitment.

By introducing a new supporter product, redesigning onboarding journeys, and explicitly inviting supporters to become regular donors at the right emotional moment, recruitment and retention were both rebuilt. Today, almost half of the organisation’s regular donors are recruited digitally, early churn has been significantly reduced, and donors report higher satisfaction and have a greater lifetime value.

The session will combine practical case examples with interactive reflection, helping you rethink how recruitment, onboarding, and retention connect across your donor channels.
