Following the First Click

Getting someone to sign a petition, join a campaign, or subscribe to your emails is only the beginning.

The real challenge is turning an initial moment of engagement into a meaningful, long-term relationship.

This practical session will what high-performing charities do differently after a supporter takes that first action. You’ll learn how thriving organisations are using supporter behaviour to create more relevant communications, build commitment, and connect campaigning, fundraising, and engagement with the issues people care about.

Drawing on patterns observed across a range of nonprofit organisations, the session will highlight the practical changes that can help you deepen engagement and create more opportunities for people to act, give, and stay involved.

Learning outcomes

  • Recognise the emotional context behind a supporter’s first action
  • Identify where supporter journeys commonly lose momentum
  • Design relevant next steps that respond to supporter behaviour, sustain emotional momentum, and create opportunities for deeper participation and giving

This session is presented in partnership with Engaging Networks.
