Leading better cross-sector partnerships between our own organisations and other nonprofits.
This workshop will bring you through the lifecycle of a typical fundraising partnership, from bringing groups of different organisations together for the first time, to creating a shared cross-organisational culture that delivers impact beyond what your organisation could achieve alone.
Designed to help you lead better cross-sector partnerships, the session will provide practical frameworks, tools, and guidance on positioning and pitching partnership proposals to funders – and winning. If you’re involved in bid writing or proposal development, the workshop will inspire and energise you, revealing how the same skills you us in fundraising can be harnessed to drive multi-organisational, cross-sector collaborations.
Together, will look at some of the most common practical challenges we face when trying to work with other, including:
- How to choose the right partners for a collaboration
- What kinds of agreements and contracts to use
- How to develop joint budgets and financial plans quickly and effectively
- Pre-empting points of conflict to resolve them before they become crises
- How to do marketing & evaluation across multiple organisations for joint programmes
The session will also focus on how to position your partnership to funders for the best chance of success and look at the the key differences between individual and partnership proposal writing, as well as how to adapt your grant writing skills for each. Real-life proposals – successful and not – will illustrate learning so you come away clear on why some partnerships fail to secure funds while others can be wildly successful. We will discuss why funders do and don’t fund partnership working, and what you can do as a fundraiser to better persuade them to invest in your collaborations.
You will leave with a sense of intentionality, armed with some tools and techniques to try in your own work, and knowing how to initiate and build better partnerships, as well as how to position and leverage them for maximum impact
