Play for Good, Play for Gumption: A LEGO® Serious Play® exploration to ignite innovation for social good

“Play is our natural way of adapting and developing new skills. It is what prepares us for emergence and keeps us open to serendipity, to new opportunities.”
Dr Stuart Brown; “Play: How it shapes the Brain, Opens the imagination and Invigorates the Soul”

‘Play with Gumption, Play for Good’ is an invitation from School of Gumption to play, collaborate and explore the core conference
theme “Building new ecosystem for social good” In this 90-minute session, we will engage participants in a hands-on workshop exploration of the conference theme and harness the ‘creative intelligence of crowd’ using LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® materials and methodology.
The process will take the participants through a structured process and exploration of these key building blocks:
Current Identity: Who are we and what we do?
Challenges: What are our current organisational challenges and barriers?
Limits: Why the need to go beyond fundraising?
Building the future: What if…we could create ‘a new ecosystem for social good’, what would that look like?

From the outside, a LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® session may just look like playing with LEGO, but the structured process elicits deep thinking, powerful story telling, authentic collaboration and problem solving of complex challenges that organisations and social changemakers face.
What outcome do we envisage for the session? We hope it will be an opportunity to not just talk about ideas about ecosystem innovation, but to actually visualise and make the ideas real through building them with LEGOs and make it more real and doable. In short, to inspire action, break through barriers and move the community forward.

These 3D models serve as a basis for group discussion, knowledge sharing, problem solving and decision making. The Lego Serious Play Method is highly experiential and participative and designed to helps to break down mental barriers so as to fuel the imagination and open minds.
